Research is a critical component of professional development for any faculty member—even for those at teaching institutions. It has been my privilege to develop my Research Skills while teaching at a variety of institutions. Along the way, I have developed a Philosophy of Research that is helpful in choosing which research projects to invest resources in, and which to leave for some other researcher.
